Synthesis and -Glucosidase Inhibitory Activity of Phenylalkyl Piperazine Analogues

Abstract
As an effort to find a new scaffold for -glucosidase inhibition, we have prepared total 11 phenylalkylated piperazine derivatives and tested their -glucosidase inhibitory activities. Compounds 8 () possessing two 3-methoxyphenethyl group on 1,4-position of piperazine showed comparable potency to acarbose used as reference. But other compounds were inactive to -glucosidase. The result indicated that proper substituents on the piperazine can engender -glucosidase inhibitory activities on the piperazine derivatives.
